LOFT CONVERSION AT HATFIELD - FOR DUNCAN AND OLIVIA LATTER

We have four children and a three bedroom house. It was necessary to extend into the loft. We used a Surveyor initially and were refused planning permission. Then I called Michael and he responded instantly to my call and visited the house. He obtained planning permission and gave us the necessary accommodation within the timescale and budget he set out from the start. The design he put forward was a masterpiece of thinking outside the box – he proposed a scheme that never even crossed our minds that it was possible. With minimum intervention to the external envelope, lowering the ceilings, and with a very spacious stairwell design, we got our two additional large bedrooms in the loft, a shower, a toilet and sink, a children’s play area on the landing and a children’s grotto extending from one of the two new bedrooms. And much more: we upgraded to a state of the art combination type boiler giving hot water on demand at mains pressure and also enlarged our own bedroom by demolishing a huge chimney-breast that was blocking our way. The children are now all very happy, each one having his/her room. And we know that this is the house where we will stay for many-many more years to come.

This project dealt with the interior refurbishment of a three bedroom flat within PRINCESS PARK MANOR, a CLASS II listed building in New Southgate, North London. The clients, Ben Gilman and Erryn Wood, were looking to rationalise the planning of the accommodation which was constrained by the original structure (two feet wide walls). We also dealt with Listed Building Planning Permission liaising directly with the Conservation Officers of Barnet Council, issuing the initial Party Wall Notices and providing drawings and calculations for the License to Alter. The project is currently under construction for a budget of approximately £100,000.00.

This was a project for Interior Alterations, a Side Extension and a full width Loft Conversion. The client was concerned about the level of light within the extension so 4No pyramidal skylights were installed which allow an abundance of daylight to pass down into the extended kitchen. We dealt with every aspect of the project from commencement to completion, including obtaining the Certificate of Lawfulness under Permitted Development Regulations, Building Regulations Approval and Party Wall Awards.
